Hyderabad, March 16: As per the guidelines outlined by the University Grants Commission on PG courses, Osmania University tentatively decided to scrap the one year Bachelor of Communication and Journalism – BCJ course, which was till now offered as post graduate in all the universities. UGC, recently laid down the new rules on PG courses, which states that, all PG courses should have a minimum of 2 years academic tenure.
After scrapping the BCJ, Osmania University is planning to start a newly designed master’s course MCJ – Master of Communication and Journalism with 2 years period. The new MCJ may be launched from 2011-12 academic year in the university. B.A., B.Com and B.Sc students were eligible for this MCJ course. The university standing committee is mulling the proposal to make final decision on this issue, source familiar with the development said.
