Hyderabad, March 19: The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University,
Hyderabad has submitted a proposal to establish an Engineering
College of JNTUH at Singoor, Medak District from the current academic year.
The proposed new college is aimed to reach to the rural areas of Telangana region by setting up academic institution close to the industries, the higher education department said in press note today.
The proposed location is well connected with the capital city of Hyderabad at a distance of 80 Kms and 30 Kms from the district head quarters, i.e., Sanga Reddy. Many prestigious industries and organizations like Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, Bharat Dynamics Limited, various Pharm Industries and many information Technology and Engineering Industries are located around the proposed location.
The proposed location is in the vicinity of the Singoor Project. This would enable the institution to have better linkage with industries for working in emerging technologies as well as ideal ambience for academic environment.
It is therefore proposed to establish the JNTUH College of Engineering, Singoor Village, Pulkal Mandal, Medak District from the academic year 2012-13 with the following B.Tech., courses:
(i) Computer Science & Engineering: 60 seats
(ii) Electronics & Communication Engineering: 60 seats
(iii) Civil and Environmental Engineering: 60 seats
(iv) Material Science and Nano Technology: 60 seats
