Hyderabad: Osmania University students now can authentic information on US education resources at their finger tips. The US India Educational Foundation has opened Education resources centre at Osmania Campus today. Now along with OU students, others from nearby institutions can seek out information about study in the United States at the newly opened Satellite Information Center (SIC) at the Osmania University Center for International Programs. The center offers information about education in the United States.
Osmania University Vice Chancellor T. Tirupati Rao inaugurated the SCI centre in University campus library today.
The SIC is affiliated to the United States-India Educational Foundation (USIEF) whose Director Adam J. Grotsky was also present on the opening. U.S. Consulate General Public Affairs Officer Juliet Wurr, also present, noted that USIEF’s funding for the center came from the U.S. Department of State.
The center’s goal is to provide accurate and free information about the wide variety of educational institutions available to Indian students. The center, open six days a week and without cost, will offer reference material on all aspects of higher education in the U.S. University directories, instruction booklets for applying to a U.S. university and study-guides and application forms for TOEFL, GMAT, GRE and SAT tests can be accessed.
The center will be open from 10 am to 1 pm from Monday to Friday and from 10 am to 3 pm on Saturday. Interested students and their guardians are invited to visit the center for information material.
The opening of the center is a renewal of ties that existed between the Fulbright Commission and Osmania University when the American Studies Research Center (ASRC) was established in the mid sixties on the campus to promote American studies in India. The United States has provided financial support to OUCIP, with USIEF’s contribution for the SIP tangible proof of the importance the United States accords to its relationship with India.
