It is free of charge and open to the public. “Many of our applicants for immigrant visas are from Andhra Pradesh. We want to help applicants and people who may be interested in immigrating to the U.S. understand our laws and the application process,” said Onn Olson, Immigrant Visa Chief at the U.S. Consulate General Chennai. “U.S. immigration policy allows qualified individuals and families to immigrate to the United States, but sometimes people get bad guidance or submit fraudulent information in order to get a visa. The presentation will include information on who is eligible to immigrate to the U.S. and how to apply for an immigrant visa according to U.S. regulations and Consulate procedures. Consular officials will also explain ways to avoid becoming victims of fraud or immigration scams, and they will emphasize the consequences of misrepresenting facts or misusing a U.S. visa.
