BITS Pilani to represent India at the Global Final in Kuala Lumpur
Hyderabad: BITS Pilani Goa stood as the winner of the national round of the The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) 2010 Global Business Challenge competition.
IIT Delhi, Sri Ram College of Commerce Delhi, Christ University Bangalore, Jain University Bangalore, NMIMS University Mumbai, BITS Pilani Goa and St. Josephs College of Commerce Bangalore competed to represent India at the global final to be held in Malaysia.
There were total 169 teams from all over India who participated in the competition. The finalists went through a rigorous selection process, which include a case study report submission and a regional final before they made it to the India Final. Team BITS Pilani was declared the winner by a team of judges that comprised of reputed industry leaders.
The winning team will now represent India and compete with teams from 12 other countries such as UK, Ireland, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, China, Malaysia, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, South Africa, UAE and Australia at the global final to be held in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) in August 2010.
The 2010 CIMA Global Business Challenge, which is sponsored by Barclays Bank, UK, had some distinguished judges from the industry. These panel of judges included Mr. Phillie Karkaria, Executive Director, Tata Reality and Infrastructure; Mr. Vishi Srinivasan, CFO, Barclays Capital; Mr. Muthu Manickam, Vice President – Finance, HDFC Bank; Dr. Archana Arcot, Group Manager – OD, Infosys BPO and Ms. Meena Saxena, Assistant Director, Dept of Case Development, Indian School of Business, Hyderabad.

The 2010 CIMA Global Business Challenge is an international business management competition designed to bring out the best in potential business leaders among students. The competition is open to full time undergraduates of public and private colleges and universities. Teams from 13 countries viz. UK, Ireland, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, India, China, Malaysia, Pakistan, Singapore, South Africa, UAE, Philippines and Australia, will participate in this year’s Global Final at Kuala Lumpur. Last year, more than 6000 students from colleges and universities across 8 countries participated in the competition.
The international competition provides students with a great opportunity to test the depth of their financial knowledge, try out their business management skills, expand upon their competitive ability, and has even led to internship opportunities from well known organisations. Teams will be expected to analyse, report and present on a CIMA case study.
The inaugural CIMA Global Business Challenge was held in 2009. Considering huge response from the students in the first competition, CIMA broaden its scope and invited entries from across the India by divided them in North, West and South zones.
