CRSI Awards Darshan Rangathan Memorial Lecture to UoH Faculty
Hyderabad, August, 2008: Prof. M.J. Swamy, Faculty of School of Chemistry, University of Hyderabad has been selected for the Darshan Rangathan Memorial Lecture Award of the Chemical Research Society of India (CRSI), Bangalore. This award was instituted in 2003 in honour of Late Dr. Darshan Ranganathan, who made important contributions to Bioorganic Chemistry and is given every two years to a scientist working at the interface of Chemistry and Biology.
Prof. M.J. Swamy, will deliver the Memorial Lecture at the 11th CRSI National Symposium Scheduled to be held at the National Chemical Laboratory, Pune, during February 6-8, 2009.
The Lecture Award carries a citation and an honorarium which will be presented at the award lecture.
Prof. Swamy has been working at the School of Chemistry, University of Hyderabad for over 15 years and made notable contributions in the areas of Lipid phase behaviour, Lipid-Protein interactions, and Protein- ligand interactions. He has authored over 80 research papers and reviews in these areas. He is an elected fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences (Bangalore), National Academy of Sciences (Allahabad) and Andhra Pradesh Akademi of Sciences and an elected member of the Guha Research Conference.
